- What will I talk about today?
- I have a diagram here with - Today I will show that its actually great to run an OSS project!
- We will look at some highlights from the history of Pymunk
- Like when I got help from a famous Python personality
- And we will stop along the way to gather up 4 takeaways that I think are relevant and interesting for everyone interested in Open Source.
- This talk will be quite light
- I will not go into details about the GJK algorithm, Minkowski distance or even Newtons laws of motion.
- But if you are interested, then I have ONE printed papercopy of the original GJK paper, one interested person can get it afterwards

- In Pymunks API it was possible to do like this,
- Set a vector property from a tuple, but then when accessing it, using it as a Pymunk 2d Vector type. Mypy did not allow this.
- Someone had already reported this issue. And the creator of Python himself, GvR had this reply (in 2017).
- This is a perverse style
- Then in 2020 when I came around I posted a followup if there were some workaround.
- The creator of Python himself, Guido van Rossum, responded!
- Short answer, but still
- A bit star-struck actually... Have a lot of respect for him.
- Now, 5 years later luckily this changed, and it's supported in Mypy.
